Safari - Welcome to the Spirit of France
The second of P&O Ferries `Spirit' class
vessels, the "Spirit of France", arrived in Dover for the first time
at 11:00 on
Saturday 28th January 2012.
For this arrival I was invited to join the
Dover Sea Safari
and photograph the ship on approach to Dover.
We departed the marina at
09:30 and proceeded out of the Eastern entrance out towards the SW Goodwin
buoy.
The Spirit of France was looming large on the
horizon and soon we were alongside the vessel observing the Port of Dover
pilot boarding this massive vessel.
After a few circuits of the ship we were soon
running parallel with the vessel on her approach before heading back into
Dover ahead of her so we could watch her entering the port for the first
time.
I would like to take this opportunity of
thanking James, Simon and the staff of the Sea Safari for organising this
unique event.
