May 19th 2004: Maiden voyage between Boulogne - Dover.
August 28th 2004 - August 30th 2004: Blew a cylinder-head gasket, when leaving Boulogne, which brought exhaust fumes onto the car deck. The vessel was evacuated and the sailing cancelled.
September 7th 2004: One of her four engines failed, but continued whilst running repairs were made, resulting in a loss of speed to 10 knots.
September 2004: Went for a minor refit, lasting 1 week, including technical refit and interior update
2004 (winter): Continued service, although on reduced sailings.
October 7th 2004: Minor collision with SEAFRANCE CEZANNE in Dover. The problem was put down to a mechanical fault and resulted in minor paint abrasions.
April 7th 2006: Following a fishermen strike, the Boulogne port was blocked, so the SPEEDONE tried to berth in Calais. She was unable to do so with SeaFrance seafarers blocking the berth.
July 16th 2006: Whilst at berth 1 Eastern Docks suffered the effects of a bow wave from SEAFRANCE BERLIOZ (berth surge). A motorcycle and car on her car-deck were moved by the force of the movement. Not known whether there were any injuries. An investigation is taking place where the outcome could be that , if proven that the BERLIOZ did not take enough care, the master could have his pilot age licence removed.
24th January 2007: It was announced that Speed Ferries are to transfer there operation from the Eastern Docks to the disused International Hoverport at the Western Docks.
2nd March 2007: Stood down from service and departed Dover for annual overhaul at FSL in Portsmouth.
28th March 2007: Speed One returns from annual overhaul at FSL in Portsmouth.
28th December 2007: Whilst manoeuvring to her lay-by berth Speed One made contact with the Prince of Wales pier and holed herself below the waterline and started to take on water.
Dover Coastguard tasked the Dover lifeboat and the Folkestone rescue team to attend with there pumping gear. The Kent Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene with a further four pumps. The flooding was soon brought under control and the hull breach has been repaired. The vessel is now awaiting an inspection before she can re-enter service.
6th November 2008: Speed One is arrested in the Port of Boulogne on the instruction of the Boulogne Chamber of Commerce. It is claimed that the Port is owned several thousand Euros in unpaid berthing fees.
11th November 2008: It's reported in the local media that Speed Ferries owe the Dover Harbour Board an `undisclosed amount of money' from the use of the terminal at the Western docks.
12th November 2008: Speed Ferries Limited is placed in administration with all sailings cancelled. Ernst and Young LLP are appointed as administrators for the business and it is understood that the intention is to sell the business as a `going concern'
20th November 2008: Speed One is released by the commercial court in Boulogne and proceeds to Tilbury, Essex for lay up.
25th November 2008: "The Joint Administrators regretfully announce the closure of Speedferries Limited (in administration).
The Joint Administrators have been exploring every possible avenue to save the business since 12 November 2008 and it is unfortunate that a buyer for the business has not been found.
Speedferries Limited (in administration) will now cease to operate services between Dover and Boulogne and customers with pre-booked tickets are advised to seek alternative travel arrangements."
